Dumfries and Galloway has long been home to a wealth of artistic talent, inspired by this area of outstanding natural beauty. Among the artists who live and work here are seven professional photographers who comprise the Galloway Photographic Collective. They have joined forces to promote their work, across a range of disciplines including traditional landscape photography of Scotland, impressionist abstract works and intense black and white portraiture.
The Collective currently comprises of seven members. To the west of Loch Ken in Laurieston you can find Phil McMenemy’s Gallery at Laurieston and Ian Biggar in New Galloway; furthest north are Ted Leeming and Morag Paterson located four miles north of Dalry overlooking the Rhinns of Kells; close to the eastern shore of Loch Ken is Allan Wright and the Loch Ken Gallery/Cafe; in central Castle Douglas you can find Kim Ayres and the Roger Lever Gallery is in Dalbeattie.
In addition to permanent galleries they provide a variety of exhibitions, open studio days, workshops, talks and events throughout the year.
