Tom studied architecture at Dundee and Heriot Watt universities. He moved to Dumfries and Galloway in 1983 before co-founding his own architecture practice in Carlisle. Recently, he took early retirement to concentrate on his other life-long passions of photography, writing and the great outdoors.
Tom’s enthusiasm for photography is evident in the wide range of subject matter that he captures but in recent years he has tended to specialize in nature and wildlife images that reflect the stunning biodiversity of Scotland’s flora and fauna.
Through his photography Tom strives to say something about the character and behaviour of his subjects and to take the viewer into a world that they may not often see but can nonetheless feel part of.
Tom’s work has been published at home and abroad and he is a regular photojournalism contributor to several magazines.
